okay the holiday cd is complete. I have burned 35 today and it looks like I will be able to do the remaining 40 tomorrow. I still need to print out the playlist but hopefully I will be able to do that tomorrow too. I can't wait to get it to people. It really is nice to hear how people have enjoyed it and look forward to a new copy each year. It is fun for me to think of people enjoying the music that I totally love. They probably haven't heard the songs before and now the music is part of their family celebrations. That's amazing really. I guess that is why I do it. I don't know but it feels good.

Holiday Cheer

Okay well that didn't really work did it. I guess I got too busy watching all the TV and enjoying myself. I hope I didn't disappoint anyone.

So right now taking a little break from cleaning my house. I am trying to get it ready for all my holiday decorations. Which means moving furniture and trying to find a place for my plants so that I can put the 4 trees up. Maybe I won't put them all up. Who am I kidding, of course I am. I love to walk into my apartment to see it all lit up and sparkling.
At the same time I am also in production for this years holiday compilation. It is getting harder to put it together because I have already put all my favorite songs on them. This is the 9th year and it is much more of new music then holiday classics. I hope that everyone enjoys it. I think I am going to make 60 this year. So I better get back to work.
So I guess the point of this is that I am in the Holiday spirit and I need to get my space in the world ready. Don't worry I won't actually put up trees or anything until Thanksgiving. I'll do that while I am watching the Macy's Day parade. I will post pictures as soon as everything is decorated.
Happy Holidays!

Alright you all asked for it. And I can't believe that I am doing this. I haven't done this before because I never wanted anyone to see just how much TV I really watch. But since so many people have asked it, here you go. If you copy this link and paste it into your browser, you will be able to get connected to a grid of the 2009-2010 Fall TV schedule.

The green is what I am currently watching and yellow is what I plan on checking out this season. I have included the premiere dates so that you don't miss an episode. There are certainly some new shows that have promise and I will update you all on what I am liking.

This week I enjoyed GLEE (Wednesday night on Fox at 9:00). I love the music and the dialog is hilarious. There have been 2 episodes and I am totally hooked. I also enjoyed the Vampire Diaries (Thursday night on CW at 8:00) I most likely enjoyed this as I am currently obsessed with vampires. Twilight, True Blood and now the Vampire Diaries, what can I say - It's fun and at times I am a 14 year old girl.

So this week I am looking forward to the season finale of True Blood on HBO tonight. I will most likely check out a bit of the MTV Music Awards tonight, just to see what people will be talking about tomorrow. I will also be DVR'ing the Oprah's season premiere on Monday. It is a two day Whitney and Oprah extravaganza! Then on Wednesday it will be the Michael Jackson tribute show. I am looking foward to Oprah's interview with Jay-Z coming up soon. I saw his Answer the Call concert at Madison Square Garden on Friday and was blown away. Will keep you posted when that airs.

I hope that you find all of this helpful. I find all of this really fun and I hope you do to.

Pillow Talk

Okay...I know it's been a long time since I last posted. What can I say I've been busy. You can check out my photoblog at web.mac.com/melissanotsobland

The reason for the post tonight is I don't know what to do with pillows I don't want any more. When I worked a Linen's N Things, we used to tell people that they need to replace their pillows once a year. If that is the case...what the heck are you supposed to do with their old pillows. Do they throw them away? move them to another room? Is there a place where they should go?

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

A little Cheer

Here are two pictures of two of my Christmas trees. I actually have four of them. I had decided that this year was to be my first grown up Christmas tree. I started collecting ornaments in January and picked up several ornaments on sale. Which of course brought me great joy. But then I decided to go to India for my friend Mohamed 's wedding and I would be gone for Christmas. I wasn't sure what to do. Should I put up a real tree or not. Those fake ones are expensive but I found a lovely 6 ft tree for 20 bucks and I have to say it looks pretty good. I love coming home and opening my door and seeing the lovely twinkle lights. Apparently I have a thing for stars...sparkley stars. When I put the first one on my tree it took my breath away. It is also totally awesome to see my tree twinkling in my window as I drive down the road. It's magical.
The other little trees are special too. One from Mom, One from my friend Helen and one from Grandmother.
They make me smile and bring me a little cheer every day.

Halloween

This was my Halloween costume for this year. It was fun! I really love the purple wig I've got to figure out how I can wear it again. Halloween was fun this year. We always make a big deal of Halloween at work. The costumes are fantastic but I don't really compete for the big prizes. It's just fun to dress up a bit. For me the best part of Halloween is thinking about what Halloween was like when I was growing up. It always reminds me of Grammie and that feels good. Either Mom or Grammie would make the most wonderful goulash that would be ready to eat when ever you were ready. It would be in a huge black pan sitting on top of the stove and if you were hungry you could just serve yourself. And there was always enough for an army, which was good because we would have friends come over to trick or treat. Of course Laura would come over too. Our neighborhood was great for trick or treating. Lots of friendly neighbors who gave out great candy. We would then come back to the house and count the massive amount of candy that we had just scored. We would fill up pillowcases full of candy! I don't remember eating all that candy but we must have. I don't know where it went if we didn't!
Anyway it was always special and it marked for me that it was getting colder and that made me happy.
I hope that you all had a wonderful Halloween!
